With abundant clinical experience in the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal tract disease and disease of liver, gallbladder and pancreas, satisfactory therapeutic efficacy has been obtained in Department of Gastroenterology, especially in the treatment of upper digestive tract hemorrhage, rescue of hepatic coma, peptic ulcer, ulcerative colitis, Crohn disease, refractory ascites in cirrhosis, sclerotherapy for esophageal varices in cirrhosis, endoscopical in-stent in advanced esophageal carcinoma, dilation of esophagus and anastomotic stoma stenosis, intervention of liver cancer, high power helium-neon laser treatment in advanced esophageal carcinoma, gastric cancer, and carcinoma of large intestine. She has won many prizes of Progress in Science and Technology of the Army for her study on gastroenteric tumor. This Department has advanced diagnostic and therapeutic equipments, such as ultrasonic endoscope, electronic magnifying gastroscope, electronic colonoscope, duodenoscope and HeNe-2000 light power tumor therapeutic machine, etc. Endoscopic ultrasonography could differentiate the nature of the tumor under the mucous membrane of esophagus and gastrointestinal tract and the depth of infiltration of tumor, whether there is metastasis of lymph node, which may provide scientific reliance for the determination of operational ectomy. This machine has higher rate for correct diagnosis of tumor of pancreas and biliary tract. The image of electronic gastrointestinal endoscope is distinct and can magnify 200 times, which is easy to find minimal lesion, and can obviously improve detection rate of early stage gastrointestinal tract tumor. Extensive endoscopic treatments have been conducted in Department of Gastrointestinal Endoscope, such as endoscopical hemostasis of digestive tract hemorrhage, electro-ectomy and microwave treatment of gastrointestinal polyps, hardening and loop ligature of esophageal varices of cirrhosis, air sac and bougienage of esophagus and anastomotic stoma stenosis, memory alloy stent in esophageal carcinoma, ERCP detection of foreign body in esophagus and stomach, calculus removed from biliary tract, in-stent in biliary tract, etc.
